Before: The title could be taken as a memoir, so using the author’s photo (the publisher’s idea) definitely creates the wrong first impression for a self-help relationship book.
After: The title begs for an all-type treatment that can be seen from across the room, its sincerity is so arresting. Let’s celebrate it in a clear but feminine voice created by slim, lower-case letters. The tilt adds action and upliftment. The background color says this is for women only. The subtitle is quite large and intertwines with the title, almost creating two titles to more strongly convey our message. The handwritten words suggest the author wrote a personal note then signed her name at the bottom. Her credibility is easily established in such a strong design, yet the feeling is spontaneous and fun, the way dating should be.
