Before: The mouse is the author’s brand. This underdeveloped layout looks timid, opposing the book's message. The spare, two-color treatment shows a lack of imagination, contradicting the book’s message.
After: The title has power now with huge bold type, and the red lines make it sizzle. “Great” stands out in a contrasting color. Some gold evokes prestige and success without spoiling the cartoon theme. The enlarged (and shortened) subtitle delivers the benefit in attention-grabbing red and the important words are very large. The illustration is now at the top and implies the complete maze without having to show so much of it.
